You must be wondering about the Presentation and Communication Courses (PCSC) guidelines and requirements. These courses are a must for doing CA in Pakistan as students equipped with these courses gain knowledge and communication skills, which are important skillsets for a chartered accountant.
We have listed down the information and requirements of PCSC so that you can be prepared for what’s about to come before enrolling.
Who Has To Do It?
PCSC has to be taken and completed by full-time students before the start of their mandatory training. On the other hand, graduate students who have at least 45% marks can take PCSC while they are training. Although graduate students can take these courses while training, they will have to complete PCSC before appearing on the CFAP level.
Exemptions
There are a few students who have an exemption from PCSC. The students who have a four-year degree from a known university and the equivalence certificate from the HEC can be exempted from these courses. However, these students have to fill out a RE form along with the attested copies of their transcripts/mark sheets of their degree and the equivalence.
Another exemption is the person who had started or finished their training in December 2014. Students who are enrolled in PCSC – 1 and complete it are also exempted.
Authorized
There is a list of Approved PCSC Providers (APPs) who have the permit to provide these particular courses. You will be able to find the list on the official website of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). There are many CA institutes in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Sialkot, etc., that are on the list.
Evaluation of PCSC
The APPs and ICAP will evaluate the PCSC. The writing skills will be checked by ICAP through a writing test that is given quarterly. Whereas, the rest of the evaluation will be done by the APPs.
Writing Skill Test
Students that had passed or were exempted from ACF – 1 Function English before May 2015 will not have to give this test.
Pausing And Credit Hours
Many students have certain questions regarding pausing their PCSC and then continuing it on a later date, as well as, the transferring of the credit hours. Well, pausing and then continuing to complete PCSC later depends on the policy of the APPs whom you are studying with.
Furthermore, there is a particular question that almost every student asks, that is if they could transfer their credit hours of Pak-Swiss Training Centre (PSTC) to PCSC. Well, the answer to that question is no; the credit hours cannot be transferred.
It should be kept in mind that before doing CA in Pakistan people should look at the requirements that they have to fulfill; PCSC is one of these requirements. There are many CA institutes in Pakistan that help students speak eloquently by equipping them with the skills and knowledge on how to successfully conduct presentations through the help of their courses for PCSC.
