What is ACCA?

ACCA stands for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. It is compatible with CA & ACMA of Pakistan. The holder of this qualification is known as Chartered Certified Accountant. It was founded in 1904 in England and today is the largest professional accountancy body in the UK & the largest to operate on an international basis. It has over 200,000 qualified members and more than 450,000 students working towards its qualification in over 160 countries around the world.

RULES FOR ACCA

  • There are 14 exam papers to complete along with a compulsory on-line 'Professional Ethics' module.

  • There are two levels, each of which contains two modules i.e.4 modules in total.

  • Students can sit for maximum 4 papers in one exam attempt.

  • The pass marks for each paper are 50%Intermediate or 16 years of age.

  • 2 Passes in A-Level and three GCSE or equivalent in five separate subjects including Math’s and English (If not, then IELTS 6.5 band or TOEFL with CBE - 170/PBE 500 scores).

  • C.A. Inter.

  • PIPFA (Intermediate Stage).

  • B.Com/B.A/B.Sc

Route – B:
Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)
Qualification

  • No formal academic qualification is required.

  • This allows you to register as an external student of ACCA and you are given four consecutive examination attempts to pass papers F2 and F3.

  • Upon successful completion, you will be transferred to the main student register and you can continue your ACCA Examinations.

  • Normally Age over 21.

Route – B:
CAT Route
Qualification

  • Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualified students are eligible for direct entry to Fundamental Skills Part of ACCA Professional Examination.

Course Duration

As per rules of progression the entire ACCA examination can be completed in ten years, even if no exemption is claimed.

EXEPMTION SCHEME

Exemptions upto first 4 papers are available for degree holders of MBA, M.Com, CA, CA intermediate on a case to case basis by ACCA.

Oxford Brookes B.Sc. Hons Degree

Obtain the ACCA qualification and a B.Sc. degree. Registration is automatic for students eligible to complete the degree. You can obtain the degree by:

  • Passing the ACCA Fundamentals level papers F1-F9 (specifically Papers F7-F9).
  • Completing the ACCA Professional Ethics module.
  • Completing a Research and Analysis project comprising a Research Report (maximum 6,500 words) and a Skills and Learning Statement (maximum 2,000 words).
  • Projects must be monitored by a mentor (usually your employer, college tutor or an ACCA member).
  • You can submit the project at any time after you have successfully completed the ACCA Fundamentals level papers and the Professional Ethics Module.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE REAUIREMENT

Practical experience is a vital part of the ACCA qualification. It is mandatory requirement along with passing the examinations and completing the Professional Ethics module in order to apply for membership and to use the ACCA letters after your name.

PROFESSIONAL ETHICS MODULE

Professional ethics module can be accessed when you become eligible to take paper P1- Professional Accountant. As part of your ethical development, you will be required to complete a Professional Ethics Module. You can access the Professional Ethics module through 'my ACCA'. There is no exam for the Professional Ethics module so you cannot fail the course. There is set time allocated to complete the module but you are encouraged to complete the module over a period of time to allow you to effect on what you have learnt.
